What Are Jinbei?
Looking for a unique and stylish way to stay cool in the summer heat? Made of lightweight and breathable materials, our traditional Japanese wear, Jinbei, is the perfect solution for hot summer days.
Each Jinbei consists of a yukata-like jacket and knee-length pants. Originally, they were worn at Japanese summer festivals in place of yukata. These days, they are popularly worn at home as loungewear or nightwear.
With various colors and designs to choose from, you're sure to find the perfect jinbei to match your style.
Jinbei by Wasuian
Founded in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture, a city renowned for its textile industry, Wasuian initially manufactured haori and obi. We are the No. 1 Japanese jinbei manufacturer, from making them at our own factory to direct sales. Combining traditional techniques with functionality and design suited to the modern age, our artisans work hard to make each garment in a proper working environment.
Our jinbei are available with hand-knitted octopus thread on the sides or custom-made torsion lace dyed to match the fabric's color. The silhouettes are simple yet elegant with the original Japanese kimono silhouette.
Wasuian’s Commitment: The Beauty of the Collar
The collar has always been an essential part of the kimono, as is evident in the idiom "Eri Wo Tadasu" ("straighten the collar"). In our jinbei, we avoid placing stitches on the front of the collar by using the sophisticated drop stitching technique. It relies on the fingertips to apply the sewing machine to the edge of the collar, just 1 to 2 mm away. This is possible only at Wasuian, where artisans carefully make every piece by hand.
