Wasuian's samue, jinbei, and hanten are high-quality garments tailored by Japanese artisans. They are also popular for both Japanese and foreign customers to give as gifts. In this blog, I would like to introduce the embroidery services associated with our gift services.

There are many needs and requests for embroidery services. Some customers want to embroider names, nicknames, and family crests. Others want original logos of shops or companies on our samue. At Wasuian, we accept a wide variety of embroidery requests.

This July, we launched four embroidery services, Character/ Family Crest/Picture /Simple Letter Embroidery for customers living abroad.

Now, let me begin by introducing how we perform embroidery.

Embroidery is done using this machine. Apart from operating the machine, the embroidery supervisor has two tasks: creating the embroidery data and deciding the position to embroider.

However, these two tasks, especially positioning, are very important for beautiful embroidery.

Even a fine piece of embroidery with threads sewn tightly and without gaps will be ruined if the threads are skewed or are on either side. This is especially important to get right if it is a gift.

Unlike so-called "standard gifts," our customers who give gifts from our store are very particular about having the recipient experience something different and surprising. One such request is to embroider samue or jinbei.

In order to respond to such customers' wishes, our embroidery staff carefully creates the data and sometimes makes several prototypes. Once a satisfactory result is achieved, the position of the embroidery is determined, taking into consideration such factors as symmetry, balance of letters, and size of the pattern. In this way, the embroidery process is carefully planned down to the smallest detail for a more beautiful finish.

I would like to introduce some examples of letter embroidery, which is the most commonly ordered type of embroidery, both in Japan and overseas.

The size, typeface, and position of the letters are fixed, so all you need to do is simply select the letters, numbers, and thread color. However, there are many variations of this simple embroidery.

The number of letters is the key point, and the impression will differ greatly depending on whether the letters are names or nicknames. A first name gives a formal impression, while a nickname gives a more casual impression. Some customers preferred to express their appreciation and gratitude towards their parents or their senior colleagues by putting the anniversary on a samue.

In Japan, there are customers who wish to embroider a four-character idiomatic expression without being bound by the frame of "letter. We sometimes learn words that we have never heard before, such as "桃李成蹊 Toriseikei (People with virtue naturally attract others)" and "梵我一如 bongaichinyo (Harmony and unity of subject and object)" through embroidery orders.

Furthermore, thread color is also an important factor in determining the impression of the embroidery. The most popular color combinations for fabric and thread are navy blue and white, or navy blue and gold.

For those who prefer embroidery that is not conspicuous and is not subtle, we can use the same color thread as the fabric.

Some of you may be thinking, "Well, isn't that too 'subtle' making it indistinguishable from the fabric? We understand that because we thought so, too until we received the order and actually embroidered it.

When we embroidered the fabric, however, we found it to be very delicate and beautiful.

This luster is created by the unevenness of the embroidered area. Depending on the texture and thickness of the fabric to be embroidered, some embroideries, such as Sashiko-ori samue, may not be able to show this clearly, but it is not impossible to see the embroidery because it is almost completely integrated into the fabric.

The source of this commitment is the customer's feeling for the recipient, "How can I make them feel appreciated?"

It is not only the care the customers put into considering the samue and jinbei they purchase but also the feelings that come from them thinking of the other person. It warms our hearts and makes us excited at the same time to think that these feelings will take shape in the embroidery.

That is why our motto is to be careful, and especially careful when we embroider. We think of the customer who placed the order and the recipient of the gift with a smile on their face as we meticulously embroider each item.

I hope you will consider our embroidery service when considering a gift for your loved ones, or just to treat yourself, to create a special feeling.
