Indoor Wear, from Yukata to Samue at Hotels and Inns
Guest room clothing is the "relaxing clothes" provided at hotels, inns, bathing facilities, and other similar locations. There are various forms of room wear, including Western-style relaxing wear, such as T-shirts, half pants, and gowns. Yukata and samue come to mind for Japanese-style traditional clothing. You may not be sure about samue being popular room wear at hotels and inns. However, in recent years, an increasing number of facilities have begun to use samue as indoor wear, since it is easier to wear and relax in than yukata, and since samue match with both Japanese and Western styles.
Recently, Wasuian has been receiving many requests for our samue as in-house wear from hotels and other facilities. Today, I would like to introduce one of these places.
Kyosen is an inn, and hidden gem, in Tenryu-kyo, a scenic spot in Nagano Prefecture.
The inn reopened in the spring of 2019, and they have renewed their in-house wear and introduced our samue, being traditional Japanese work clothing. It is located in a wonderful location where you can enjoy hot springs and river rafting and spend time relaxing by yourself, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We are also very honored to be chosen by such a ryokan, which was selected as one of the "10 Best Small Inns in Japan" by professionals at the end of 2019.
Here is the samue we selected for them:
5095 Kaihara Denim Pima Cotton Samue
Denim fabric is rare for samue. It was selected for its breathability and comfort. The name of the ryokan (inn) is embroidered on the upper part of the samue, and a smaller “S size” is also available for petite sizes.
The samue, which can blend in with both Japanese and Western styles, is expected to increase its presence in the hotel industry, becoming more common as both work wear and room wear. In this context, we hope to continue to create and deliver to our customers a taste that only Wasuian can offer, such as "a high level of comfort," " peace of mind with high-quality products made in Japan," and "a convincing sense of luxury" that cannot be experienced anywhere else. When you visit Japan for sightseeing, it may be a good idea to choose a hotel or ryokan that offers samue. In a comfortable and loose-fitting samue, you will experience true Japanese hospitality and sophistication.
